Nina Douglas - Grothendieck
Digital Sculpting with a Traditional Soul
The goal of this collaboration was to capture the eccentric spirit of mathematician Alexander Grothendieck without the work feeling 'digital.' My focus was on the tactile quality of the sculpture—specifically the heavy, organic texture of the robe. I engineered the 3D print files to ensure that every intentionally rough surface detail was preserved during the lost-wax casting process, resulting in a bronze that retains the feel of hand-manipulated clay.
