Alva Skog - As It Is

The Physics of Exaggerated Form

Alva Skog’s illustrations are famous for their forced perspective and exaggerated proportions. My role was to translate these 2D distortions into 3D reality without losing the artist's signature style.

  • Volumetric Balance: I sculpted the figures to ensure the massive limbs and tiny heads felt balanced and 'heavy' in the real world, resolving anatomical ambiguities that don't exist in 2D drawings.

  • Functional Engineering: For the 'Bookend' piece, the brief was to turn an illustration into a functional object. I engineered a vertical planar cut into the organic form, creating a perfectly flat surface for holding books while maintaining the illusion of a soft, resting body.
