Joseph Lee - Parry
Hybrid Manufacturing for Stylized Art
Translating Joseph Lee's signature 'impasto' painting style into 3D required more than just digital sculpting; it required a hybrid manufacturing strategy.
Material Separation: To capture the vibrant, multi-colored detail of the brushstrokes without hand-painting every gradient, I engineered the face as a separate Full-Color 3D Print (PolyJet/CJP).
Seamless Assembly: The body was designed for traditional resin casting to achieve a smooth, matte finish. I engineered a precision locking key between the resin head and the 3D-printed 'mask,' ensuring the two materials married perfectly without visible gaps or glue lines.
The Hybrid Final: A seamless union of cast resin (body) and full-color 3D printing (face).

Precision Fit: Engineered tolerances allowed the full-color printed 'mask' to slot perfectly onto the cast resin bust.

Volume Study: Sculpting the 'strokes' as solid geometry to ensure they cast realistic shadows.
